Trials of the Rift
Trials of the Rift is a couch competitive co-op game where players work in teams of two to complete minigames in order to earn their mark of mastery by traversing through a dungeon controlled by a fearsome skeletal dragon known as the Rift Dragon. The Rift Dragon divides the dungeon down the middle and can throw bolts of energy at players.
However, the players control wizards who have access to four spells that aid them along the way. Along the way the players encounter four different minigames to test their worthiness, Capture the Gem, Crystal Hockey, Defeat the Necromancer and finally the Rift Dragon itself. The team that scores the most on the first three trials gets some of the health taken off the Dragon in the final fight. The team that defeats the Rift Dragon first is declared the winner.
This project is a game that I worked on with a team of 18 people for my Senior Project at Drexel University. We worked on the game for 9 months bringing it from initial concept to a fully functional game. We wanted a project that would be played with friends in the same room and could be easy for new players to pick up when they start playing.
What I did on this project:
I did concept art for the skeleton soldiers as well as the Rift Dragon itself. I also did motion capture data cleaning for the apprentice animations and the skeletons to make their animations ready to put on the models. I also did some particle effect work. I made the trail for the necromancers that can be seen as a cloud of mist that trails from the feet of the necromancer as they walk.

The Apprentices practice their spells in the warm-up room.

The Apprentices attempt to use their spells to propel a crystal into the other team's goal.

The Apprentices attempt to defeat the Rift's extra heads faster than their opponents.
